Last night's premiere of ABC's newest drama Switched At Birth broke the network's ratings records for a series debut in total viewers and all key demos. It drew 3.3 million viewers and 1.0 million/1.5 rating in adults 18-34 at 9 PM. (The show, about two teen girls who were accidentally switched at birth, also posted new premiere records in women 18-34, adults and women 18-49). Switched At Birth outpaced ABC Family's previous record holders, the debuts of The Secret Life of the American Teenager in total viewers (2.8 million) and Pretty Little Liars in adults 18-34 (837,000) and women 18-34. Switched at Birth's total premiere night audience for the 9 PM and 10 PM airings was 4.9 million. Switched at Birth is the first of 4 new series ABC Family will unspool this summer, along with Chloe, The Lying Game and State of Georgia.
