From Band Geek to Teen Mom: The Evolution of Amy Juergens

Remember back in the day when Amy was a nerdy tween with huge bangs and a penchant for mustard yellow cowl necks? Since then she’s grown out the bangs, discovered a love for black-on-black ,and popped out a baby. Good times. Let’s look back on Amy Juergens’ progression from dorky French horn player to sexy teen mom on The Secret Life of the American Teenager!

1. Mega Nerd

When we first met Amy she was in such a state of dorkdom that she practically had “VIRGIN” stamped across her forehead. The only prob? Unfortch, she wasn't a virgin — far from it. In fact, she had been recently sperminated by Grant High’s resident bad boy, Ricky Underwood! So how does a band geek deal with with an unexpected pregnancy? That’s where Ben Boykewich comes in.

2. Hopeless Romantic

Amy distracted herself from the giant baby growing in her uterus by falling in love with Ben. After throwing up on him, Amy went on a few dates with Ben and then five minutes later they were head-over-heels in love and planning a wedding on the sly. Give the gal a break — would you have said “no” to The Sausage Prince’s proposal? He gave her an entire cooler full of chicken wings! Yeah, didn’t think so.

3. Married

Amy entered a new phase of her secret life when she became a “wife.” Goodbye nerd, hello matrimony! Ben and Amy’s wedding was beautiful, but Amy... not so much. Her hippie wedding dress gave us a serious case of boho-phobia, but hey — maybe it was laundry day. Even though their wedding was a sham, Amy grew up as she walked down the aisle. Sob!

4. Divorced (kinda)

Yeah, so that whole wedding thing was so not legal. Amy went from wife to grounded for life in about five minutes, but the experience gave her a lot of perspective about her relationship with Ben. She started concentrating more on the baber and channeled those mommy hormones we knew were in there somewhere.

5. Teen Mom

Pushing baby John out of her girl parts totally changed Amy. Nowadays, she stands up for what she believes in and doesn't let her parents push her around. Basically, she’s an adult! Yeah, yeah, Amy’s still a little dorky, but that time in New York did her well. Not only did she return to Cali with a suitcase full of black clothes, but she became a total independent woman!

6. Co-dependent Sausage Lover

Ever since Amy started dating her baby daddy, she’s become a little obsessed. Not Ali Larter and Beyonce Knowles obsessed, but close. Amy will stop at nothing to get Ricky to commit. We totally get it — a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do when it comes to taming her studly stallion!
