Recently named by Los Angeles Times one of the “2011 Faces to Watch”, she is best known for her star role in the ABC Family Series, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and her upcoming movie, The Descendants, with George Clooney. Off screen, “Shai” is a great role model who lives the Cal-a-Vie lifestyle. She enjoys outdoor adventures, learning guitar and healthy cooking and sewing. She is also a huge environmentalist and actively promotes recycling. Shailene has always dreamed of attending New York University (NYU) majoring in interior design and psychology. This year while filming, she plans to take online classes for community college studying either psychology or herbology.
